Kelso Depot in the Mojave Desert, a Mission Revival style building opened in 1924 on the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad. - now a Visitor Centre for the Mojave National Preserve.
Kelso  Post Office appears to be closed for business!
From Kelso, we drive to Victorville for a one night stop en route to Los Angeles. Before reaching Victorville, we pass through the town of Baker near the southern tip of Death Valley. Baker has a 134-foot thermometer commemorating when the temperature reached a record 134F in Death Valley in 1913
Our accommodation for the night of June 6th is the Queen Mary, which is moored at Long Beach, California. The First Class King Stateroom has its original furniture and fittings
After cocktails in the Observation Lounge, we have a splendid dinner in the Sir Winston's Restaurant - the Grande Marnier souffle was delicious!

June 7th: the J Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles. The gardens of the museum are as wonderful as the massive an varied indoor collection which includes a sculpture (above) in gilt and polychromed pine and cedar of Saint Gines by the Seville artist Luisa Roldan
