The harbour of Sissi - the village where our hotel is located
Our fourteen nights in Sissi were spent at the very comfortable Angela Suites Hotel where we were well looked after by the excellent staff, and where we thoroughly enjoyed the 5-course evening meals
After the first night spent in the Junior Suite numbered 215, we move to a larger and more comfortable suite (116 ) on our 60th Wedding Anniversary. The room has its own private patio, complete with gated enclosure

The hotel's dining area, strangely bisected by the route from the hotel entrance to some of the rooms. Invariably, each day, we are the first to arrive at both breakfast and the evening meal
Friday, May 31st:

Today we collect our rental car - an Hyundai I 10. It does not arrive until late afternoon so we only explore locally to establish the hotels' relationship with the 'National Highway'. This evening's meal's chicken is excellent
Saturday, June 1st: we drive to Knossos Palace, near Heraklion on a hot, sunny day. Arriving just before 11am, the early coach parties are soon departing and this famous Bronze Age archeological site is not too crowded. Arthur Evans (above) undertook the extensive excavations which unearthed most of the palace as well as its many now-famous artifacts
