The church has three aisles where frescoes depict New Testament episodes plus the entire Book of Genesis. Seats along parts of the walls are extremely narrow

The old house that forms part of the complex is very interesting. It appears to be looked after by a pleasant elderly lady who is attending some flower boxes, and presents us with some specimens.

Above the village are the ruins of  the 15th-Century Castle of Asklipio. We make the steady climb to the rocky hilltop on which the castle is built and are rewarded with extensive views. As we start to descend we meet one of two German ladies we have spoken to near the church - we find the second lady in a village taverna where we stop for coffee after our climb.
