From Prasonisi Beach we drive up the west coast of the island to Monolithos
Monolithos is named after a crag with an 820-feet drop to the sea. Built on the crag, Monolithos Castle has stunning views of the coast. Included within the castle's grounds are two small 15th-Century chapels, both decorated with frescoes.
At a cafe near the foot of the climb to the castle we have smoothies before visiting another chapel (Agios Saint George) and then driving west to east across the island to the hotel
Day 5 - today's exploration of Rhodes commences with a drive to Asklipio - a quiet hill village just inland. The 11th-Century church Kimisi Theotokou has an interior decorated with frescoes on nearly every surface. The church is part of a complex that includes a folklore museum, an amphitheater, and an old house.
