In nearby St Paul's Bay we walk the short distance to a chapel. St. Paul is said to have been here in the year 51 AD to preach
Christianity to the Rhodians. Apparently, the chapel is a favourite wedding venue.
Day 4: we explore the southern part of the island, visiting Kattavia, Prasonisi Beach, and Monolithos Castle
At Kattavia, a somewhat rundown village, we have large coffees with a custard type dessert at the Cafe Penelope, before exploring
on foot. The area near the church is pleasant but there are many abandoned houses and some abandoned cars.
The whitewashed St. Paraskevi Church is known for its interior covered in colorful frescoes and a silver icon of St. Paraskevi.
Prasonisi Beach at the southern tip of Rhodes is the meeting place of two seas, the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea. We are
able to park on the beach and then walk to a point that overlooks the meeting of the two seas. Despite the strong wind, this is a
most enjoyable stroll across the flat beach.
