Rhodes: May/June 2022
(continued)
From the Butterfly Valley we drive southwest along the coast to the archaeological site of Ancient Kamiros. There are extensive ruins
on a hillside overlooking the sea, which we explore fully before driving across the island to our hotel.
For our evening meal we choose a bottle of Chardonnay to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Informing Aris, our very pleasant
and friendly waiter, of our special occasion, prompts him and the wine waiter to bring us complimentary glasses of ouzo and limonchella.
These generous measures, plus the wine, result in two very happy diners who decide to personally thank the two waiters at their serving
station. Unfortunately, turning away after speaking to them, Jeanette crashes into a glass door - result, a slight black eye by the
following morning. Nevertheless, a lovely end to a special day.
Days 13 to 15 are spent relaxing around the hotel after we return the hire car. Our stay at the Grand Lindos Hotel has been made special
by excellent food and the delightful staff. As we have a late flight to Birmingham, we spend the afternoon of June 2nd in a different
room, some of the time watching Trooping the Colour on TV. The Jet2 flight lands at Birmingham at 2:41am and we are home at 4am.
