The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Fira. A baroque structure of blue-gray and cream was built in 1823. It was completely restored and rebuilt in 1970, after an earthquake in 1956
On the way back from Fira we stop to explore Emporio - Santorini's largest village.
Here we find a bakery that we return to a number of times
Back in our room, we enjoy our purchase from the bakery in Emporio
The Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary (Panagia Evangelistria) is a large, modern church located on the main road through Emporio. The church is genuinely new – it was built in 1980.
